The 7th Forum

Date: Monday, November 25, 2013

Venue: Kingrand Hotel, Beijing

Agenda: Specialists from Japan, China and Korea made their presentations on eleven topics, titled respectively, "Avian Influenza A(H7N9)", "Vector Born Disease (SFTS, etc)", "MDR-TB", "Hand Foot and Mouth Disease", and "Rubella", etc. About thirty researchers from China CDC (including the Director-General, Dr. Yu WANG, five from Korean CDC (including the Director-General of Center for Infectious Disease Control, Dr. JEONG Chung-Hyeon), and ten from NIID, Japan (including the Director-General, Dr. Haruo WATANABE) joined in the forum. Participants had active discussions.

The 6th Forum

Date: Tuesday, November 20,2012

Venue: Keio Plaza Hotel, Tokyo

Agenda: Specialists from Japan, China and Korea made their presentations on eleven topics over three sessions, titled respectively, “EPI”, “Enteric Infectious Diseases” and “Bio-safety”. Participants included seven from China CDC (including the Deputy Director-General, Dr.Yang and the Deputy Director of National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, Dr.Dong), six from Korean NIH and CDC (including the Director-General of Korea NIH, Dr.Cho), and those from the International Affairs Division and Tuberculosis and Infectious Diseases Control Division of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, as well as JICA and NIID (including the Director-General, Dr. Watanabe). Altogether,60 participants attended, and active discussions took place.

The 5th Forum

Date: Thursday, November 17,2011

Venue: Osong Health Technology Administration Complex, Korea

Agenda: Some 30 specialists from Japan, China and Korea gathered to discuss the themes “Impact of Climate Change and Natural Disaster in Public Health” and “Current Events on Public Health”. Korea CDC reported on climate change and allergy diseases, and the status of multi-drug resistant organism detection, China CDC on poliovirus outbreak in Xinjiang and emergency responses, and disaster and emergency responses, and NIID on post-Great East Japan Earthquake related infectious disease surveillance and a new approach of using DNA sequencing technology in public health.Active discussions ensued.

Agenda: Novel influenza(H1N1), the measles virus, and enterovirus 71(hand foot and mouth disease) were the main topics. The three institutes reaffirmed the essential nature of building a close relationship in the effort to progress pre-emptive actions against infectious diseases

The 2nd Forum

Date: Wednesday, October 10,2008

Venue: Hotel Grand Hilton Seoul (Seoul)

Agenda: Vector-borne diseases in conjunction with climate change and infectious diseases, and water- borne and food-borne infectious diseases were the main topics. The parties confirmed that the mutual understanding necessary for their partnership was maturing, citing a shared awareness of the importance of continuing this forum.
