NIID signed a memorandum of collaboration on Antimicrobial Resistance Research with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at Embassy of India, Tokyo.

NIID and ICMR agreed upon the cooperative research for surveyillance of antimicrobial resistance. The two signed a letter of intent for such bilateral work on April 16, 2016 at the ambassador's residence in Tokyo, in the presence of Union Health Minister, J. P. Nadda and Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, Y. Shiozaki.
