ヒトT細胞白血病ウイルス１型（HTLV-1）感染は母乳により感染することは広く知られているが、青年及び成人におけるHTLV-1の感染については詳しいデータがなかった。そこでAMED研究班により、日本赤十字社のデータベースを基に、HTLV-1抗体検査で過去に陰性だった献血者で、その後陽性に転じた者の割合（水平感染の割合）を後方視的コホート手法で解析し、日本全国の人口動態に外挿したところ、年間あたり４,１９０人（男性９７５人、女性３,２１５人）が新たにウイルスに感染していると推定された。水平感染の割合は男性よりも女性が有意に高かった。

デング熱は、感染症発生動向調査により、4類感染症として診断後直ちに届け出ることが義務付けられている。近年、輸入デング熱報告数は増加しており、また2014年には国内感染例も認めた。今回、輸入デング熱報告数を現状把握やリスク評価、根拠に基づく意思決定に用いるための手法を検討した。

東南アジア諸国で流行しているHIV-1サブタイプの一つであるCRF01_AEは、我が国における疫学があまりわかっていない。我々は、日本薬剤耐性HIV-1サーベイランスネットワークに登録された3618名の患者のウイルス遺伝子配列を3種類の方法によって系統樹解析した。
